Probcause & Lembo Release New EP, ‘Way Up’

One of Chicago’s finest, ProbCause, is cruising from one exciting project to the next. In recent years he has become known for reaching well beyond the boundaries of hip hop. He can casually jump from electronic to funk, from R&B to classic boom-bap gritty rap, and still retain the unique ability to make one reminisce with his captivating storytelling. For his latest project he is teaming up with super talented duo out of New Orleans, Lembo.

Following some huge collaborations with Gramatik, the Chicago native blended his hometown’s past and present on the exquisite LP, Drifters, released on Lowtemp in 2015. A number of big singles and collabs later he put out  a superb EP titled, ‘Distractions’ in 2017, and on this release he first joined forces with Lembo who produced the title track. Members of the young producer/guitarist duo from New Orleans, Paul Provosty and Logan Sellers, had both done a few solo projects in the past, but when they decided to join forces there was an immediate connection, and ever since then they have been successfully bringing old school funky vibes to a modern setting.

The  trio enjoyed working together so much they started putting together more delicious music, somewhere on the crossroads between hip hop, R ‘n B, and EDM. The first result was a single, “Don’t Look Down,” released this June, on which Prob’s “flow glides effortlessly over Lembo’s funky and smooth electronic beat that is at its best with irresistible guitar licks,” proclaims Magnetic Magazine that premiered it.  But that wasn’t all they had in store. They are now back with a 5-track EP, ‘Way Up,’ that comes just in time for summer. Tracks like, “Take Me Higher,” “All On Me,” and “Don’t Look Down” are destined to brighten up everybody’s “Chillin by the pool” playlists, but make no mistake – they will just as easily rock the festival crowds anywhere they are played.
