The Toronto-based duo known as THUGLI return to the spotlight with their newest self-release, “Cold Winter,” featuring tantalizing vocalist Bea Moon.

“We wanted to make something that came with some raw emotion. We made the comparison of a cold/bitter relationship to the cold of winter. There are so many parallels between the two. It’s a bit of a step in a different direction for us sonically leaning less on the heavy, aggressive trap sound and exploring some new ideas. We were very fortunate to work on this one with the super talented Bea Moon on vocals and super proud of the record as a whole” – THUGLI

One of the first THUGLI tracks to feature a vocalist, “Cold Winter” shows off a depth to the pairing’s creative process that highlights the significant growth both Pat and Tom of THUGLI have experienced over the past few years. True Canadians to the core, they wanted to create a song that captured the essence of a true Canadian winter and took it upon themselves to experiment with sounds outside of their typical bass-heavy spectrum. Moon’s vocals glide effortlessly across a bed of intrictate synth-work for a club and radio ready tune, destined for dance floor destruction. THUGLI is Tom Wrecks and Pat Drastik, a production/dj duo based out of Toronto Canada. Pat Drastik, a former national Redbull Thre3style and DMC champion and Tom Wrecks, known for his popular remixes and Juno nominated production. The two got their start as THUGLI by releasing several bootlegs & remixes via Soundcloud that quickly caught the attention of Industry heavyweights including  Diplo, A-Trak and Flosstradamus. Since then, they have been on a consistent tear of official remixes for indy and major labels such as Mad Decent, Fool’s Gold, Dim Mak, Universal, Atlantic, a string of very successful and popular bootlegs and releasing original work such as their debut E.P ‘Onslaught‘. From the E.P came the track, ‘Run This‘ which was accompanied by a stellar short film/music video directed by Amos Leblanc and Ohji Inoue. The song/video became a Vimeo Staff Pick and charted in the top 20 for six weeks on the Much Music Countdown. It was also nominated for 3 Much Music Video awards where it eventually took home an MMVA for Best Director. They followed up with another video for their single, ‘Sic Em’, which also received an MMVA nomination for Best Electronic Music Video. Their dynamic live show is a hybrid of turntablist skill, clever, intricate blends and exquisite musical selection all put together on 4 Technics 1200’s. A rare but very welcomed sight nowadays.

2016 saw them release one of their biggest bootlegs to date, a remix of rapper Desiigner‘s hit ‘Panda‘ which is now creeping on close to 7 million combined plays on Youtube. 2017 is about to kick off strong with the release of a new single, ‘Cold Winter‘ featuring Australia’s Bea Moon on vocals with a full EP to follow. Its looking to be a big year for the duo and its only just begun!
